Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau

talking about married life and being together...

Do you folks not see that this is just another example of "sometimes the government oughtta just fuck off and stay out of it." Woulda been better if they'da done that. Instead, these two nice folks just got dicked around endlessly. I'm sure the whole situation kept a lot of social workers and bureaucrats busy, though...

Near the end of the interview Letourneau says words to the effect of "I see what the norm is, I mean I recognize it, but there's so many things in life that just don't fall into that norm."

Exactly. And the "so many things in life that just don't fall into that norm" are what FREEDOM is for.

Any child that has ever been through their parents infidelity and then a tragic divorce knows why the law regarding this stands the way that it does! I am a mother of 6 children and after experiencing what it feels like to have your guts torn out after my father's affair and neglect, I decided that my job as a mother and my husband's job as a father is to provide a loving caring, stable environment for our children. When you have a child, your life is only truly fulfilled when you are able to provide that kind of environment for them. Providing that kind of environment means that I certainly do not want my three sons to be pursued by one of their teachers when they are 12 years old. If they ever exhibited a crush on one of their teachers while their teenage hormones were raging, I would hope that the teacher would take this as a school boy crush and tend to her own family. True joy and happiness in life comes by maintaining these kind of bounderies, not by acting on every hormonal urge. Watch "Fiddler on the Roof," if you want to know what true love is about. Listen to the song that Tevia's wife sings to him. Sometimes love and marriage must cross boundaries like those portrayed in this film, but it should never cross the boundaries that this teacher crossed. I feel very bad for their children!!! What kind of security do their new children have? My dad is now on his third wife! No relationship that starts this way can provide a feeling of security and hope in the future regarding family life! How sad for all the children involved, including those that were also her former students. What kind of values did she portray to all of her students? Doctors take an oath "to do no harm." Teachers should take this oath as well. She should have been a better example of how an adult should behave. She should have been put in jail for a lot longer!!!!

momofsbknbj: I'm really sorry you got hurt like that and I'm not being insincere.

But when it comes to Mary Kay and Vili, I just hope they're happy and that things work out.

I am disgusted with her. I think she is child molester and a disgrace and the worst kind of teacher. I am reading the biography on her and nothing I have read has changed my point of view about her. I feel really sorry for her children and her ex-husband though -her behaviour was no excuse for him to be violent to her.

You are so disgusted you had to read a book to get all the prurient details????

I would think you'd want to keep your head clear of such things.

ah well, "neither breaks my bones nor picks my pockets" (T. Jefferson)
