About the JonBenet thing...

No link needed--it's all over the news.

Now...about all the cretins that were sure the parents were guilty and that were consequently perfectly willing to dispense with the presumption of innocence and make the parents lives miserable over this...

I wonder if they've learned anything.

I don't think it was just coincidence that Patsy died in the way she did -internalising all that grief.

Lee: That's a fair enough assumption. The effects of grief and stress on the human body are just beginning to be understood, and those poor folks underwent a terrible ordeal. I think a lot of people owe abject apologies.

We had the same thing happen here with Lindy Chamberlain - when a dingo took her baby. Evidence in her favour "disappeared" (e.g. a log/visitors book from the place where they were staying had particular pages removed containing the names and addresses of potential witnesses who could testify of behalf of the Chamberlains, a blanket with paw prints on it "disappeared" as well) and all manner of disgraceful behaviour ensued. This kind of thing just makes you sick.

I remember that case. As far as I'm concerned Michael Jackson is innocent, same with OJ, same with any accused person before trial or any aquitted person after a not guilty verdict.

I served on a murder trial jury and after I checked the news reports to see how accurately the news presented the case. Well, even accounting for what juries don't see, I can tell you that the trial I saw was a lot different than the trial that got described in the paper. Meaning that if all you've done is read the paper about it, you probably don't have that good a clue :-). Lotsa folks have been hanged by the press or public opinion before all the facts are in.
