Lesson: Bailouts support identifiable voting blocs is all. They're bribes.People who support the bailouts don't give a rat's ass about the at least equivalent number of jobs scattered throughout the economy that will be lost, caused by the dollars consumers don't have to spend because they're funding the bailout.
And an interesting tactical thing:
Let's say there's an election in the next while, and you're still thinking wrongly enough about economics and philosophy to want what the coalition wants. Two way split, anyone? The best communicator? The most experienced governing party? I mean, who do you vote for...it's not like there's a huge ideological difference. And the Bloc? Lotsa Quebec folks kinda like them, even knowing they won't govern.
Fun times.
Oh. And this:

She talked to Larry [King]. But she didn't talk to me.”But why would a daytime talk show host not want a vice-presidential candidate on the show before an election? Fear of poor ratings?

You know, although I didn't support the coalition, I rooted for them just because I really don't like Harper.
But during the "negotiations" I kept saying, "whatever you do, get someone OTHER than Dion to lead".
But they picked Dion.
Then Dion appeared to grow a spine and I thought "Wow, where was this guy when it counted, during the election?".
Then I saw the video and it all came back to me...'Oh yes, this guys is an idiot."
I'm willing to bet as soon as that video fiasco happened, a lot of coalition supporters, kinda decided they needed to worry about other things. I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of the things Michealle Jean did in that two hours Thursday morning was watch that video and roll her eyes.

Yep and despite rooting for the coalition on completely emotional and visceral grounds, I know that what they propose, and what is being proposed in the US is economic nonsense of the highest order. Bail out the auto industry? That makes as much sense as bailing out the banks that failed to create the mess.
Let them die off and let better businesses and people arise to take their place. Its how the free market is supposed to work.
